| The Suite Roll (a "self ob")
The history behind the Suite Roll... In August 1985, in the suite at 523-526 Jim Morrison Hotel at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the Suite Roll was born. Dan, Jared, Brent, Critter and some other odd guys lived in a suite in Morrison Dorm. We were the third suite on the wing and the losers in the first two suites had named their suites (i.e., Suite Satisfaction, Suite Iniquity). Partially to knock those suites we named our's Suite Roll. Well, it turns out that the four of us pledged Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and, of course, we were harassed to no end for naming our suite. Well, that's all it took. We had special Suite Roll socials/mixers, made T-Shirts, had Suite Roll little sisters, christened Suite Roll wannabees, added a Suite Roll pledge and honorary initiate, and generally made the Suite Roll an obnoxious clique (think package/oil check) within the fraternity. Most everyone hated the Suite Roll -- it was great! And after college we had Suite Roll Weekends (complete with P$*%#-Pie Award) every six months and established the Suite Roll Wedding Bowling Ball tradition.
And the pictures...
The shirts... The shirts we made freshman year and wore way too much for 4+ years...ok?
The mixer... Heinous pictures from the infamous Suite Roll mixer with two of our Suite Roll 'little sisters'...
The contract... In 1992 we established the rehearsal dinner rite of contractually obligating any women that worked their way into the Suite Roll via marriage to forever support the traditions of the Suite Roll. Dawn claims that she never saw the whole contract when she signed it (yeah, right!). Turns out this rite lasted only through Brent and Dawn's wedding, but Dawn was good enough to uphold the letter of the contract and name her first born "Suite Roll Milgram I" (see page 3).
From the day we formed the Suite Roll we had the problem of deciding if and when we would admit into the Suite Roll any of the many PiKA brothers wishing to join. Well, once we pledged Roderick Geachacoowoowoo and let Dean slip in as an honorary initiate, we just could not find another qualified candidate. So all the PiKA's 'wanting to be' in the Suite Roll would have to remain 'wannabees' forever. Here are some of the most 'wanting' wannabees...
